CT Families Rally Behind Survivors

Since we made the painful announcement that funding issues would likely force Callisto to close its doors, we have been overwhelmed with everyone who has stood up and said, "NOT ON MY WATCH!"

One of those incredible individuals was Anne Marie (Hunt) Hauben.

As a sexual assault survivor, mother of teenagers, and outspoken advocate, the moment Anne Marie learned about Callisto and our imminent closure, she immediately sprung into action.

With barely any time and no event planning experience, Anne Marie rallied her husband, kids, and local families to shine light on the issue of sexual violence and fight for Callisto's survival.

She even got us on the news!

Last week, on a chilly Thursday evening, local parents (some sitting side-by-side with their teenagers) joined together to ensure survivors don't feel alone...or that they need to suffer in silence.

In addition to sharing a powerful message from one of our student Ambassadors, we were honored to be joined by Epstein survivor and creator of 3Joannes, Jess Michaels, who demonstrated how life-changing it can be for survivors to learn they are not the only one.

We could not be more grateful for everyone who dedicated their time, opened their home, and poured themselves into this cause to ensure survivors have access to secure and innovative resources like Callisto.

Here are some things attendees has to say:

"Attending the Callisto presentation was a truly eye-opening experience for me...What struck me the most was how brave the women were in sharing their stories and the importance of believing and supporting survivors when they speak up so that more survivors do speak up and don’t suffer in silence. As an 18 year old, I feel inspired to do more -- to be an ally and raise awareness. I'm so grateful I attended, and I hope more people my age get the chance to hear this powerful message." -Abi

"As a father of 3 teenage daughters, the Callisto presentation definitely hit close to home. I learned about the crucial work they do in supporting survivors of sexual assault, and it gave me a new perspective on the importance of raising awareness on this topic with my daughters. It is a powerful reminder that the safety and well-being of all our children depend on all of us stepping up. We made a contribution to Callisto to ensure access for everyone." -Dan

As we continue to fight to #SaveCallisto, we are continually inspired by and grateful for everyone who has refused to let this invaluable resource slip out of reach for survivors who need it and, instead, are channelling their energy into action.

If you believe survivors deserve secure options, there is still time to join us.

To everyone who has believed in and supported our work, please know we are eternally grateful. And we have some big news...coming soon! ;)
