Callisto’s Search for a Miracle Has Ended…

There have been countless moments of speechlessness in recent weeks…

Just under 2 months ago, we had to make the devastating announcement that Callisto was experiencing a financial crisis and that - without a miracle - we would be forced to close our doors.

In the same time period, we endured an election and political climate that has reminded many survivors why it can be so difficult to feel safe coming forward, and how rarely perpetrators face accountability. Many also dealt with the painful realization that those in their life - who knew what they’d been through - were not always willing to stand with them in ways that felt meaningful.

Amidst the darkness of this time, there has also been light.

We have been inspired beyond words by everyone who has fought to ensure that innovative solutions like Callisto would survive and remain available to those who have been harmed and deserve safe options.

To everyone who made a donation (large or small) without any certainty that it would change anything…to the students and survivors and allies who raised their voices, while dealing with their own struggles and financial difficulties…to those who reached out to podcasters and newspapers, planned fundraisers, wrote blogs and articles, and shared why this tool – and survivors – matter…

YOU are the miracle.

And we are ecstatic and humbled to announce that, following a unanimous vote by our board, Callisto is not going anywhere!

With the donations from supporters like you, along with additional funding we have been securing behind the scenes (look for more details in the coming months!), we are positioned to not only survive, but to continue working tirelessly to thrive.

So, if you have been feeling helpless, we hope this serves as a reminder that you are powerful. YOU did this. And we are eternally grateful.

And, in case you are wondering –

What does this mean now?

While the data entered into Callisto Vault remained encrypted and secure throughout this difficult time, all of the tools and features within our platform have been restored and are fully accessible. This means that survivors can create new accounts and enter into our revolutionary Matching System again!

How can I help?

  1. PLEASE share this news far and wide, particularly with those who have an active .edu email. You can do that by forwarding this, sharing on social media, including an update in a newsletter, and/or downloading our toolkit.

  2. Remember that nonprofits can only continue to create a meaningful impact with funding and support. So, if you care about this cause, and were maybe hesitant to donate earlier, NOW is still an incredible time to give! And if you’re looking for a unique gift for a survivor or advocate in your life, check out our new mugs.

To everyone who has believed in and supported our work, and continues to stand with, uplift, and empower survivors, please know we are overwhelmed and grateful.

With Love & Deep Gratitude,
