Anne Dixon has been working accounting for 14+ years primarily in the alternative investment space in audit, tax t and third-party fund administration. She currently works as a part-time CFO for Venture Capital firms as she specializes working with emerging investment managers. Anne specifically enjoys helping historically un- or underrepresented folks continue to gain access in this space so we all collectively thrive.
Anne holds a B.A. in Economics & Accounting and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. During her time at UCSB, she concentrated on human sexuality and originally intended to pursue becoming a therapist in this space. However, she found she loved the juxtaposition of research and theory with logical and mathematics-based thinking and working in fast-paced, high adrenaline environments. She enjoys learning about systems while continuing to question social norms and historically accepted ways of doing things to help create meaningful ways of moving forward.
Anne served on the board of directors for Family Paths, a non-profit based in Oakland, from 2013-2017 where she served as Treasurer, Vice President and on the Audit and Finance Committees prior to moving to LA until early 2020. She is currently based in Berkeley and serves as a community member on Berkeley United School District’s “Gender Equity and Sexual Harassment” Advisory Committee as well Berkeley’s Superintendent Budget Advisory Committee.
Anne was a victim of sexual assault by a coach in high school in Illinois which is where she was born and raised. She experienced the criminal legal system from both a victim and minors’ perspective as a result. She feels lucky she can share her experiences to help others who at no fault of their own may not have a voice.
Anne is shaped by her Midwestern roots and lives by the motto her mom always taught her, “It’s nice to be important but important to be nice.” But she did grow up with the 90’s Chicago Bulls and loves to “go hard in the paint” when necessary.
