Hope Is Never “Lost”

Many survivors and allies are waking up this morning with an overwhelming sense of dread, despair, and helplessness.

Most survivors know firsthand that sexual assault victims are often blamed, shamed, or not believed, and that perpetrators rarely face consequences. And while you might be aware of this phenomenon, every time it is witnessed (and at higher levels) it can feel like the violation is happening all over again.

If you are feeling this way, you are not alone.

Honor those feelings. Take care of yourself (however that looks). And seek support if you need it.

But remember that hope is never “lost”...it is given up. No matter how you're feeling, please don’t lose sight of the power you have to impact and uplift those around you.

The reason we are fighting so hard to keep Callisto alive is that our system far too often fails survivors and rewards those who harm them.

But this is not a reality we have to accept.

And we DON'T accept it.

If you want to help, please share this with someone in your life, give what you can, and remember that we don't always choose what life hands us...but we do choose what we do next.
