We’ve seen it time and time again. A victim of sexual assault will have the courage to step forward and report an assault, but find that seeking justice and healing comes at a tremendous cost to their privacy and well-being. 

Callisto was started with a mission to rebuild survivors' sense of agency and facilitate coordinated action. The solution we have developed, Callisto Vault, is a groundbreaking encrypted platform  designed to help survivors navigate the barriers they face and pursue healing and justice on their own terms.

At the heart of Callisto Vault are two essential tools, the Matching System and the Incident Log, which work to support survivors on their journey towards healing and justice.

How does it work? 

When a survivor enters the unique identifiers of the perpetrator, such as social media handles, phone number, or email address, the Matching System scans its database. In the event that another survivor entered the same unique identifier, a match is established. This groundbreaking approach enables the detection of serial perpetrators in an encrypted environment.

Once a match is made, each survivor will be contacted by a Legal Options Counselor, who can help explain the survivor’s legal options and facilitate collective action. The survivor's privacy remains safeguarded throughout the process. This support system helps survivors navigate the complex terrain of the legal system with the guidance they need, on their own terms.

Callisto's proprietary Matching System is the first and only tool that leverages cryptography to empower survivors to determine if other individuals have been harmed by the same perpetrator without compromising their privacy.

2. Incident Log:

The Incident Log is another vital tool within Callisto Vault, designed to empower survivors on their journey. This tool enables survivors to document their experiences, providing a safe space to record their trauma and emotions as they decide their next steps.

Documenting the details of the incident is a crucial step for many survivors in processing their trauma. It serves as a therapeutic outlet and offers a reference to share with an attorney, law enforcement, therapist, a trusted friend, or their university, both in the present and future. This record ensures that a survivor's experience is preserved and kept private, even if they are not ready to take immediate action.

Callisto's overarching vision is clear: to remove barriers for survivors and empower them to take action on their own terms, while increasing the likelihood that repeat offenders are detected and held accountable. By embracing technology and prioritizing privacy, Callisto Vault is striving to create more options and resources for survivors that lead to putting survivors back in control.
